Norman Walsh Runners

The British footwear company Norman Walsh  has long been on my radar because they produce sneakers and runners in the UK (in Bolton to be exact), however I've never particularly liked any of the models, I've seen. I also couldn't help but wonder, why no British retailers stocked their shoes and why basically no Japanese shops were offering them. Especially knowing how obsessed Japanese shops are with small, unknown brands with local production and a good heritage.

Therefore it was a real pleasure seeing Oi Polloi adding some Norman Walsh runners to their stock in two great colourways. The use of silver and gold may be a bit tacky, but other than that they look good with a nice vintage aesthetic and they look very well made.

Batten Sportswear

From all of the fall collections that have been landing in my favourite stores, I think I can safely say that Batten Sportswear has made the collection that I would buy the most from. Everything seems to be just right. The theme is still very inspired by American outdoor sports like hiking and surf.

Everything could easily be incorporated into a 70's university look. It's wearable, somewhat utilitarian and simply just great. It's definitely one of my new favourite brands. 

People Doing Things Right - Oi Polloi

Oi Polloi of Manchester is a shop that is widely known. The assortment they carry is good, solid and they continuously bring in more good stuff. I do think that they have many things that are slightly too commercial, but then again that is how you sometimes make a living.

They aren't just bringing in some of the best goods from around the world. They are also putting out an excellent magazine called The Rig Out, and more recently an online publication, called Pica. Pica features drawings by Ben Lamb, as well as some articles and product shots. Read it here

It has gotten me anxious to start wearing warm sweaters, parkas or basically just outerwear again. Good job.
