Beauty & Youth - Harris Tweed Blazer

The coming of fall and winter allows you to wear a lot of layers, good sturdy coats, corduroy and finally your tweed blazers- preferably Harris Tweed blazers.

Lately a lot of companies have been using Harris Tweed fabrics in many ways and often I don't think it really makes sense. But when I saw this "coverall" blazer from Beauty & Youth it totally made sense. This type of fun blazer is something, which is obviously inspired by American leisure wear, but again it's totally Japanese. They have a way of mixing fabrics, colours and textures so effortlessly. It's definitely not for the faint-hearted, but it looks damn good.

Unfortunately it's made in Vietnam, which is a deal breaker for me. But it's still worth mentioning for its inspirational value - just like all products at Hickoree's.

  1. I hope the attention and understanding for harris tweed is growing. Just yesterday I saw the videos on vimeo about this harris tweed tycoon Haggas who produced most of the tweed but closed his factory down be-cause he could not sell his 70.000 jackets he got in stock. The story if from 2009 so I hope the whole branch is recovering from this type of "monopoly". He is also one who did not understand what harris tweed stands for and how it is been sold.

  2. Hi Alex, as always thanks for commenting, but I would especially like to thank you for that link. I hadn't seen that before, but I definitely will. Soon.

But looking at the Haggas jackets, I can only say, that they look ghastly, but that may be my personal preference for a three button blazer/sportscoat that is tinkering with my opinion.

    Have a great day

  3. There must be a reason he has about 70.000 jackets in stock, either a too high price or a bad cut. Just watch the video and you know he isn´t selling a piece. I bought mine about a year ago via ebay.co.uk a great one, old traditonal cut, brown herringbone, leather buttons. love it.
    have a great weekend,
    bye

  4. I have some good Harris Tweed blazers too that I have thrifted. A good source is of course or occasionally the Styleforum user, Tweedydon, will have some very good ones listed. Tweedydon, who is actually named James, also wrote a guest post about a piece of Harris Tweed history

I hope you had a great weekend too.

    Thanks
